How do I swap BMP for jpg's

When I capture a still from a dvd it comes in as bmp but I hate the bmp's my
dvd player has no options so is there a way to change them to jpg once in my
pictures folder ?? any ideas please S

Not only that, bmp is a proprietary format. Most people have switched to
tiff.

What you do is read the bmp file into a photo editor. Then you save the
image as a jpg.
