How do I sum occupied cells only in a column

I am trying to divide the sum of a column the the number of cells in that
column that are occupied. The column contains percentages, but not every
cell in the column contains a figure. I want to divide the sum of the
percentages by how many percentages are actually present. This number will
fluctuate from month to month....
