How do I stop receiving duplicate incoming emails?

Every time I receive an email, I get a duplicate of the same email with the
exact time and date reference on it. This is very time consuming to delete
all of the duplicates. How do I get rid of this problem? I only need one
copy, not two copies of my emails.

Are messages stored on the server?
If so purge them by downloading them with a different email client.
Other possibly causes of this are antivirus email integration - disable it
if you use it.
