How do I stop page jumping around when I type and lost characters

Whenever I use Outlook, even though it has selected Word as the editor, the
page keeps jumping around as I type. Like the letter "i" often makes the
page hop to a different point. Letters are often dropped or missing. I have
no idea what causes this and it only happens in Outlook. When I use Word
directly I do not have this problem. What do I do to fix this?
 
By any chance, do you have Speech Recognition enabled and a microphone on?
If so, turn them both off.
