How do I stop Outlook suggesting an old e-mail address

Outlook normally suggests the right e-mail address for my friends. However
it continues to suggest their old e-mail address even when I have changed it
to their new one in my contacts.
How do I stop it doing this?

Highlight the address in question and hit the Delete key when it shows up in
a suggestion dropdown

I thought I'd already tried that!
Yes it does work but have to use the arrow keys to highlight otherwise the
wrong address is selected (I'm set up for one click selection)
