how do I stop log files from publishing

when I publish my website it publishes my changes, then it starts publishing
my log files. After 2 hours of log files being published I click on cancel.
My web pages are updated on the server, but I have to click on cancel to stop
the log files from publishing. Does anyone know how to fix this ?

Some ISPs leave the log files for whatever stats package they offer on the
server. If you don't mark them as Do Not Publish they take a while to
publish down and then can cause problems if you publish them back up and
overwrite what's there.

But he says that he is publishing TO the server.

Why in the world would there be any log files on Local? And if there are
any, why not just delete them, since they have no reason to be there?

He may have gotten them from publishing down or, if he's using IIS locally
he may have pointed local log files to the root. In any case, if you delete
them locally FP will think you want to delete them on the destination server
when you publish all pages.

I have a few files - not log files - like that. I just make a 2 byte text
file, rename it, and then mark it as do not publish. It works the same in
EW, so anything I don't want touched on the destination server I just make
up that almost empty file and mark it.
