How do I specify "page x of x" in a multi-section document?

I have a document that has multiple sections with separate page numbering.
The first section is numbered "page x of y". The second section is numbered
"Exhibit A-1 of A-25", third section is "Exhibit B-1 of B-11", and so on.
How do I do this in Word 2002?

Put a bookmark on the last page of each section. For example, let's
say you put a bookmark at the end of the second section and call it
EndExhibitA.

Then in the header or footer of the section, change the "y" part of
the "page x of y". Now it's probably a {NumPages} field; change it to
{PageRef EndExhibitA}. The whole thing (with field codes displayed by
pressing Alt+F9) will look like

Exhibit A-{Page} of A-{PageRef EndExhibitA}

Then in the third section you'd use

Exhibit B-{Page} of B-{PageRef EndExhibitB}

and so on.

Just be careful not to delete the bookmarks (it helps to go to Tools >
Options > View and check "Bookmarks" so you can see them on screen),
and not to add more text after a bookmark that would leave the
bookmark no longer on the last page of the section.
