How do i show unread mail icon on taskbar?

How do i show unread mail icon on taskbar? For now i need to
maximize/minimize Outlook over & over to see if there is new Mail. I was
using Eudora before this, & it had this option so it was easier to detect new
mails.
 
Depending on your version of Outlook; Tools | Options | tab Preferences
| E-mail Options | Advanced E-mail Options. Under 'When new items
arrived in my Inbox' check 'Show an envelope icon in the notification area'.
