how do i show page numbers on the toolbar NOT the document

all of my requests re page numbering result in numbering on the actual
document, i simply want the page number of the current page i am working on
to be at the bottom of the page in one of the toolbars as it once was ...
 
Tools > Options > View

Check "Status bar"
