How do I show a timer on the screen in PowerPoint?

Is it possible to show a timer on the computer screen during a PowerPoint
Presentation? My boss wants to have a timer running on the laptop screen
while he presents that will not be visible on the projected screen. Also,
have you heard of any add-ins that are capable of this function?

Jule,

See here...
Clocks and timers for PowerPoint
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00081.htm

But I don't think any of these actual do exactly what you need.

It's the "My boss wants to have a timer running on the laptop screen
while he presents that will not be visible on the projected screen"
That's the tricky bit!

IMHO - Your boss may be better of with a small free standing clock/timer
that has nothing to do with computers

Save yourself the hassle and buy a $2 timer to set next to the screen. <g>

Hi Jule,

Trying to run this from within PowerPoint tend to whack out (sorry technical
jargon) the program and its timing and focus. PowerPoint has its hands full
with its own stuff, if you give it too much, it balks.

If this is really needed, and the 2 dollar timer does not cut it, you can do
this via a small VB6 app and a small add-in. I suppose you could write the
whole thing in any of the free standing application files, but I wrote one
in under an hour just to see how hard it would be.
