How do I set workgroup permissions

K

Kris & Ron Wagner

I'm trying to set-up a home network between one laptop and one desktop
using a D-link DI-624 router/access point. Both machines are running XP, I
ran network setup wizard on both machines. now when I got to My network
places, and click on View workgroup computers, I get an error message which
reads,

"MSHome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions!"

I only have one profile on each machine, and they both are administrator. Is
the problem in my router?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Ron

Is MSHome the workgroup on both machines because if it's not you will get that
error and they both need to have user accounts set on them so they can logon to
each other.
If you logon as joe and a password of pass the other machine needs the account
set on it with joe and a password of pass.

I'm getting this same message, only I had a network that was working between
my XP machine and a Win98 machine. Suddenly none of my own share folders
are showing up! Nothing shows up in My Network Places at all (except an MSN
butterfly icon). But everything else just suddenly disappeared tonight!
