How do I set up a new PC to dual boot DOS and XP???

Greetings all,
I need to set up an older Pentium III 866Mhz SECC2 Slot1
machine to run both older DOS programs and want to be
able to back up the system data with a cd burner. I
assume that I have to set up a dual boot machine with DOS
to run the DOS software and windows to be able to utilize
a cd burner for backup purposes. Any help will be
appreciated. Thank you very much!
