How do I set the size of I.E. 6 window for a new link?

Stuart Roberts

Hi,

Recently when opening a new link in Internet Explorer 6 a new window opens
but it is the 'nearly maximised' size. What I want is to open a new link as
a minimised bar within the screen. I used to be able to open the link,
resize the window to its smallest, close it then when re-opening all new
links would be
opened at the size I left it.

Since I installed SP2 in WinXP all new internet windows are opening big and
I
cannot change this.

How do I tell windows to open new Explorer windows as small?
Thanks
Stu

Hi,

There is only one default size, and all new IE windows will use it, except
for those that have code in the page being opened that specifies the size
(IE: popups). You need to have only one IE windows open, then set it to what
you want to be the default size. Close using file/close. Now all new IE
windows should use this size. You can't specify one size for the initial
window, and another for all subsequent ones.

Maybe you mis-understood.

Before SP2 for Win XP I could do the following...

1. Open Internet Explorer 6 in a full window.
2. Hold shift and click a link OR right click and choose open in new window.
3. The new window may open at a big size or half open size window.
4. I could re-size the window on the desktop to just a small bar (smallest
it will go).
5. Close it with the 'X'
6. Select the same link again, either method to open it in a new window.
7. The new window will be the same size as I had re-sized it in the 4th
step.

Explorer would then treat every new link window the same, until a website
decides to open a link in a different size.
Then I could still open a link, re-size it, close it, re-open it and hey
presto!

For some reason, I can no longer do this.

Does this make sense?
