How do I set my document to allow me to see text hidden text?

I know how to cahnge it back and forth between hidden and not hidden but I
don't know how to get the hidden text to be reveled and still hidden. I used
to do this as an option under view but that is no longer available in version
of Word that I am using (Word 2007).
 
Try Ctrl+Shift+8. This turns on/off all non-printing characters, including,
I believe Hidden Text.
 
To control the display of non-printing characters (incl. hidden text)
individually, select Office button > Word Options. Click Display (in the
left side). You will find all the settings below “Always show these
formatting marks on the screenâ€.
