How do I set a default top/side margin for text box in PowerPoint?

I need to set a default top/side margin for the first text box in a
powerpoint slide. When I set up the master slide, only the fonts are default.
I am using PP ver. 2003. Thanks for any help.

Please clarify "first text box." Do you need to set the default margins for
a manual textbox (like you'd add by clicking on the text tool on the drawing
toolbar) or for a placeholder (where it says "click to add text")?
