How do I separate emails into separate root folders?

I currently use three different email accounts - one for uni, one for formal
communications, and one for friends (Hotmail).

Currently, my Hotmail account has it's own folder with it's own Inbox, Sent
Items, Deleted Items and Junk Mail folders, but my other accounts both go
into my 'Personal Folders' directory.

I would like to separate them out so I can look at them individually.

How can I do this?

Thankyou for any assistance you could render.

You can do this by using rules.
