I recieve but cannot send e-mails through the new DSL service. Have checked
and rechecked e-mail settings with ISP support. Turned off firewall and
antivirus, but I still am not able to send.

Are you connected to the same network as the SMTP server you're trying to
use? If not, that's probably the cause of the problem

Thanks for taking the time to help.

I think so. I use "mail.talkamerica.net" for POP3 and SMTP, and I connect to
the internet through the Talk America DSL. Is that what you mean?

Yes, are you always on the DSL line? The last two posts you made came from
different IP addresses, one from TalkAmerica and one possibly from MSN.

My "passport" I.D. is still under my MSN IP address, but the problem that I
am having is sending e-mail through (e-mail address removed). I will sometimes
send test messages to my msn or huronsign IP addresses
([email protected]: 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Relay access
denied) from talkamerica.

I hope that I haven't muddled things. The only e-mail account that I
currently have installed on Outlook is talkamerica.net. I do not send or
recieve from any other account from Outlook.

I got that, what I was concerned with was your connection method. That's
what drives your IP address not your email address.

Vince and Mary,
Thanks for your help. Going through the possibilities led somehow to the
solution. Under "Tools"/"E-mail Accounts"/ "More Settings"/ "outgoing server"
tab/ mark "log on using" then fill in user name and password. Talk America
does not suggest that this should be completed. Perhaps it is only required
in Outlook 2003, and they only have instructions for the 2002 version on
their website and in their spec books. At any rate, your support is
appreciated.
