how do I send a letter from a contact record

When I used act I simply went to write and selected a template that I
created, and the contact info I was in would be filled in. How do I do
that in outlook. thanks

What version of Outlook?
 
Outlook 2003 and earlier, open the contact record->Actions->New Letter to Contact.
