I am trying to create an e-mail account. It used to work on a dial-up modem
but now we have broadband it no longer works. I think the problem is that I
have a local network LAN and broadband is also on a LAN connection, so can
outlook select between the two LAN connections ??

Outlook doesn't care what the internet connection is......

IF IE in this Computer is working fine then remove the account and readd the
account should work fine.
FYI
Goto->tools->Email accounts->view or change exisiting e-mail
accounts ->(select the account)Click on change->Click More Settings

It hasn't helped, I keep getting the error
"Verify port & SSL settings" for incoming & outgoing server.

I have also changed the outgoing server port from 25 to 587.

I just tried it to see if it would make a difference as it didn't work with
25.

Only change the port if your email provider TELLS you to. Go to your email
provider's website, and check that the settings you have entered are EXACTLY
as they say.

What Happens when you test account settings? Also let me know if you have any
Antivirus or Firewall?Try booting your Computer in Safemode with Networking
and check if your Outlook is working fine.

I tracked it down to outlook being blocked by the firewall in the AVG
antivirus software

Thanks for the help
