How do I save the custom colors pallete in PowerPoint?

I've created 5 custom colors but they won't automatically apply to a new line
chart when I select that layout. What am I doing wrong or is this a problem
for everyone? I've tried changing the color scheme and it won't apply either.
Seems to work fine on the pies and bars, but not the line chart. And when I
tried to fix the colors manually, they weren't showing in my color palette
anymore. Please help. Thanks.

The lines use a different default color -- have you changed all the colors
(8 in PowerPoint 2003 and earlier, 12 in PowerPoint 207) in the Color
Schemes / Theme Colors?

So basically the user still must go in and manually change the line colors on
each chart, but they'll be there in the color palette now, correct? I was
hoping for something more user-friendly, but this will do with a little extra
direction. Thanks!

No. The user will only get 6 of the color scheme colors, and those will be
applied to the chart automatically in the order described in the page about
colors and MSGraph. If you need those 5 colors and need them to be applied
automatically, you need to set up the color scheme to use them.

The upper part of the chart color palette resets itself each time the user
creates a new chart. Users can go in and choose from those colors -- but
they're not custom colors. If you change those colors, they still reset back
to their defaults in each new chart.

Now, if you want to create a sample chart that uses modified colors from the
palette above (modify them using Tools | Options | Color when you have a
chart activated), users can copy that chart (or the slide with that chart)
and change the data, and that custom color palette will remain. But it (It
being the color palette above) quite simply does not maintain itself when a
new chart is created.

You said below that you tried changing the color scheme but it doesn't work
for line charts -- only for bars and pies. That is strange -- what is not
working?

When I choose a combination line/bar chart, only the bars pick up the custom
colors. The lines pick up the brights. I think I'm going to create a custom
chart that people can duplicate and write over or just train them a bit on
how to change the colors themselves. Thanks for everything!
