When I open a new word document I want view the spelling errors in the
document and view the grammatical errors in the document. I have un-checked
the 2 options. I want this to save so that when I open another "new" document
the changes that I made will reflect in every "new" document.

How do I get this to be my default?

I think you'll have to be clearer about what you want. Do you want or not
want to see the errors? And which two options have you unchecked? There are
two sets of options:

Check spelling as you type
Check grammar as you type

Hide spelling errors in this document
Hide grammatical errors in this document

The former two are global settings; they apply to every document. The latter
two are for the current document only. If you want to see spelling/grammar
errors but are finding that the "hide" options are checked in every document
you create, then you will need to change this setting in Normal.dot; see
