Trying to automatically have several PC's run a powerpoint presentation from
a networked drive containing company information. Powerpoint should run for
a perid of time such as 24 hours and then shutdown. New updated powerpoint
presentation containing latest company news would then automatically startup
after old one had shutdown.

If you don't need complex animations and such, think about using HTML generated
from PPT instead of the PPT file itself. A few reasons:

- On some PCs, for reasons nobody's been able to pin down, PPT will run for
only XX hours or YY days and then lock up or crash. MSIE seems less prone to
this.

- PPT may toss up messages about how some other user has the file open and do
you want to open the file as read only. A browser won't.

- HTML versions should be able to update automatically w/o needing to restart
the show. Update the HTML files from a central location and all the PCs begin
playing the new versions of the files automatically.

But keep an eye out for other replies. One of our regular visitors has a
utility that makes cyclic shows like this work more smoothly directly from PPT.
Over to you, Kurt.

Thanks for the introduction Steve, I'm taking over!

There is a free solution with www.take-off.as/showpoint to send
presentations to specific monitors. In that case you can redesign your
presentation on 1 pc and send this new ppt to a serie of monitor.

Also free is the www.take-off.as/planpoint solution to schedule slides in
time within 1 presentation. But I think this is not needed in your case.

Better would be a self running and self updating presentation with links to
external data sources like databases and excel sheets. You can set up a
presentation linked to those external data sources and maintain what is
displayed by changing the data in that database/excel sheet. Have a look at
www.take-off.as/datapoint for more info on this. This solution is not free
but you can give it a try for free for 30 days.

Good luck with your project.
Kurt
