How do I run excel in "maintenance mode" to run the setup and ins.

I am getting an office assistant error upon opening excel. The error tells me
there are no office assistant characters present on the system and to run
setup in maintenance mode and install at least one character. Help!
 
Here's the error message:

There are no office assistant characters present on the system. Please run
setup in maintenance mode and install at least one character.

Help!
 
Put your Office CD in your CD drive and run Setup.
