Is this when you are using Microsoft Access (the database program)? If
so what are you doing when you get the message and what version of Access
are you using and what operating system?

If not then Microsoft's Help system has landed you in the wrong
newsgroup: this
one is for the database program Microsoft Access.

Please use the dropdown box (the one that says "Access" by default)
to select a more appropriate newsgroup, or search on
http://www.google.com.

A BIT more info might help us offer some suggestions. For example, what
program are you using? Is this the first time you have used it? When does
this message appear, after you start the program or.....?

I receive this message when first opening Access. I am able to create a
database - but I think the system is trying to tell me that I have an error
in programming but it is unable to provide the error message because of the
missing Office Assistant character file.

Thanks

PS I just checked this happens in Word also. This might be an Office issue
and not just an Access issue. If I'm in the wrong place, where do I go?

It might help if we knew what versions of Windows and Office you are
using and if they are fully updated. My guess is that it is an Office
issue.
