How do i retrieve my excel,word,powerpoint,access...etc

The icons are on my desktop but when I go to open them I get this message:
"The windows Installer failed to install the program associated with this
file. Please contact your system administrator". How did I lose them and how
do I get them back??
 
Don't know how you lost them, but it would appear you need to reinstall
the Office suite.
