How do I retrieve a deleted task?

Occasionally I accidentally delete a task. With my earlier version of Outlook
('02?) I could retrieve it from the Deleted Items folder. With Office 2003's
Outlook the task just seems to disappear, although sometimes it goes into the
Deleted Items folder as a mail item. How can I make the program hold onto the
deleted tasks in a folder until I confirm I want them permanently deleted?

Without seeing exactly what you ae doing, I 'll hazard a guess that your
problem is probably the Navigation PAIN. Use the Folder List View and
you'll have far more success finding things.

If you delete a Task it will go to the Deleted Items folder. Drag it back to
the Tasks folder to make it live again.

Thanks. I have tried that. The problem is that the deleted tasks don't go
into the Deleted Items Folder. I don't know where they are going. They seem
to completely delete as soon as I click on the X and I can't find them
anywhere.

I can not find my deleted "TASKS". My deleted e-mails can be found in the
wastebasket, but where are the TASKS going? Here's my problem... if I try
to delete a single word in a TASK item while in "PREVIEW MODE", the whole
task is deleted and I can't find it to recover it. I have to be careful to
make sure I have double clicked the TASK and OPEN IT beyond just PREVIEW MODE
in order to avoid deleting the whole TASK instead of just the word I wanted
to delete. Now and then, I forget to OPEN the TASK before editing and I end
up deleting the whole thing. How can I restore a deleted task? I can't find
where they are going. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Same place. The Deleted Items folder can hold any type of item. Keep in
mind that it might sort much earlier in the list than you expect. Try
sorting by the Icon field to collect similar items together.

I don't know what "preview mode" means.

I'm using Outlook 2007... Under "current view", choose "To-Do List", single
click any Task, and what you see to the right is a "preview" of that Task.
If you double click the Task, it will open it, as opposed to just previewing
it.

Anyway, I did eventually find my deleted Tasks in the Deleted Files folder.
The reason I had trouble finding them was because I was expecting to see them
near the top of the Deleted folder, but they were burried way deep in the
folder due to the fact that they get sorted by the Task's start date, not
their delete date. I also found that I could sort the deleted items folder
by type, so I could group deleted Tasks, Calender Items, E-mails. Man, I
hate to love Outlook!
