Usually you boot from the system restore media that was supplied with the
pc.

If the disk is "spit" in two parts then you could spit back
at it . . . Seriously: It is not possible to store a Win2000
image in a 14 MByte partition. Perhaps there is some
some other stuff hidden somewhere else on the disk. Since
these schemes are usually proprietary, your best be is to read
the manual or the FAQs on the home site of the manufacturer.

the pc is third hand!!

so no restore disks.

but when f8 is pressed on start up it has in the file menu of the window
that opens up the command, restore from floppy.

Then "restore" probably isn't possible. To do a clean install, either boot
the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set of four install
disks can be created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk
directory on the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe
(from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

IF SHE HAS A RESTORE DISK FROM THE FACTORY WHEN SHE BOUGHT
THE COMPUTER ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUT THAT IT AND THE
SYSTEM WILL REINSTALL THE FACTORY DEFAULT THAT THE
COMPUTER CAME WITH.

Follow the instructions provided by the computer's manufacturer.
They'll be in the manual that came with the computer. If you friend
lost the manual, check the manufacturer's web site for guidance.
