How do I restore from split screen?

In Word 2007 I went to View, then created a split screen. I can get
side-by-side or top and bottom but I can't get back to a single screen. The
Help menu says to click on side-by-side again to restore but that does
nothing. Thanks

Did you make the split by clicking the Split button, or by clicking the View
Side By Side button?

When the screen is split, the caption of the Split button on the ribbon should
change to Remove Split, and clicking that -- or double-clicking the bar between
the two views -- will remove the split.

If you used the View Side By Side button, click that button again to turn it
off.
