If you are not connected to MS Exchange, I would go to your ISP's webmail
interface and check if there is a "vacation" or "out of office" selection there.
Just remember when you come back, you need to go back to the webmail interface,
and turn off this feature.

how do I send an automatic responce to emails notifying the sender i'm on
vacation
The easiest way is to set a vacation responder using your email accts web
interface. If it doesn't support vacation responses, then you can do it
using rules to send a autoreply in outlook but you will need to leave
outlook running and checking mail while you are away.
