How do I repair Outlook Reminder services?

After Outlook 2003 has loaded, I get an error balloon stating Outlook cannot
start Reminder Services, and I then get no reminders on my PC, in spite of
the Reminders being all switched on under Tools/Options etc. I have reparied
the PST file using scanpst, I have detect/repaired Outlook, to no avail.
Last time this happened I had to copy the whole of my PST file to a new file
(within Outlook) and then make that new file my default PST file, but that is
messy and means I have to sort out my PDA's synchronisation as well (using
ActiveSync4.1). I am running it on XP Home/SP2 with all latest patches.
Have others met this? Any simple ideas?

I did this at the start as I was advised this route on a previous time - but
it didn't work, and doesn't today. It seems my only recourse is to copy all
the folders in my PST file across to a new PST file - but that is laborious
especially with a other routines related to the original PST files. Surely,
there must be a repair toolkit that can reset the "Reminder Service" to start
to work?

See if starting Outlook with the /resetfolders switch works. That should
reset the reminders service.

/ResetFolders resets the default Outlook folders to their original factory
settings.

And, in relation to the reminders service it resets the MAPI properties
PR_REM_OFFLINE_ENTRYID and PR_REM_ONLINE_ENTRYID in the Inbox that tell
Outlook the locations of the offline and online Reminders folder. It also
resets the MAPI restriction on the Reminders search folder.
