How do I remove [ ] showing in light gray in an imported table

Some of our company Word files have brackets "[ ]" showing in light gray
within text. When printing the text within the brackets prints but the
brackets themselves do not print so it is not usually a problem. I would like
to take a screen snapshot to include in a PowerPoint slide as a .jpg and
would prefer not to draw attention to that portion of the text. In this case
I am quite sure it was from a field in a table copied from another Word
document.
Using Word 2003 SP2.
Any ideas on how to remove them?

They are most likely bookmark boundaries. Tools>Options>Show. Uncheck
"Bookmarks."

Thanks, it was under Tools>Options>View for anyone seeing this but it was
the bookmarks as suggested.
