How do I remove paragraph marks from emails in Outlook 2007?

I've tried toggling off with "backwards P" and with CTRL-* and that's not
helping. Every time I reply, there is no longer a space between the reply
area and replied-to address. As soon as I start to type the paragraph
symbols reappear. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook to no
effect. Note when I access Outlook through the internet or Citrix I have no
such problems.

I've searched message boards and help sights and have tried numerous
suggestions without a change...please help.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I used CTRL -SHIFT-8 (I called it CTRL-*).
It does toggle off the paragraph marks but they reappear as the "default"
each time I begin a reply email. I thought it might be related to
signatures, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Please keep trying to
help!

Ctrl-* can be misleading, as not all keyboards have the asterisk on the
8 key.

What happens if you click on the ¶ button (Standard Toolbar); does it go
away permanently?

Clicking the paragraph button does not help. It will hide the marks/symbols,
but the spacing is incorrect (again no room between the start of the email
reply and the "original message". In fact, if I toggle off the marks and
then type. what I type does not get sent to the recipient at all. It's as if
I'm sending a blank email...
