How do I remove OEM start up LOGO?

In XP-Home, where would I find the eMachine logo to delete? Also can I
remove the ad that CA's [AV/Firewall] 1 yr. free subscription throws up,
during bootup?

Second question, it won't cause any problems to remove them [if I can],
will it? My start up is slow as molasses since installing SP2; and I
have removed everything I can... the rest is all in that MS services
box. <sigh>

You wouldn't. This is (usually) engineered into the BIOS, it has nothing
whatsoever to do with the OS

If that's the case, then it has nothing whatsoever to do with any logos. You
probably didn't prepare the system properly prior to installation.

Why people are still buying eMachines is beyond me...Build your own, buy
your own OS and you wouldn't have to ask questions like these.

Hi,

The logo screen at initial startup is not part of WinXP, it's part of the
system and usually you have to alter the BIOS to disable it. Generally,
something about "boot time diagnostics" - usually it is disabled to show the
logo screen. Changing this will not (or should not) affect the boot time.

Locate the Bitmap in your ROM-BIOS, replace them with a whole bunch of 00000
data value, then you will not see the image coming up. The Image usually is
located near the end of the ROM Bios memory. You need a ROM Burner to see
this. Transfer and modify the data in your PC. I've already done it.

eMachines rated next to the top in PC Magazines annual reader ratings. Most
folks don't know how to build their own machines.

No actually it's so easy to do, because you won't want to edit the data by a
small keypad, you will like your computer keyboard better. Further more you
can save your ROM BIOS data to your HD, before modifying it.
