I am not sure I am posting to the proper group. I have a laptop that was
handed down to me by my father. He used it at his last job prior to
retirement, and the company he worked for loaded microsoft office 97
professional on it.

I purchased microsoft office 2003, and also loaded it on the laptop. I
would like to remove the 0ffice 97 version, but when I attempt to do so in
"add/remove programs", I am prompted to "please insert your Microsoft Office
97 Professional CD 1". Of course, I don't HAVE that cd, as the computer
already had the program loaded on my computer.

Does anyone have a way to remove this program? It uses 653 mb of space, and
I really need to free that up.

Thank you for any suggestions!

I would think that when you loaded Office 03 It would of asked you if you
wanted to removed old versions..

How old is the laptop? What make and model?

Hope this helps.

I asked about your computer because I got the impression wrongly that
your computer might be much older than it is. I see know reason why
should not install Office 2003

You should ask your question about uninstalling in either of the
microsoft office groups which follow. You can access these by double
clicking the link whilst in Outlook Express.

Notwithstanding I am surprised you need the original CD to uninstall.
When you select Office 97 in Add / Remove Programs are you selecting
Remove?

uninstall office 2003 if you've installed it already.

then install it again & select a custom installation.

then select all products.

it will ask you if you want to remove all previous office programs. do so.

finish the installation & all of office97 will be gone... replaced with
office 2003
