How do I remove a internet Gateway connection?

fred

Hello Group,
Thanks to all who repond.

I have a PC that once was a internet connection host, it
was connected to a DSL modem on one nic card and a hub on
another nic card.

Since those day I have purchased a linksys dsl router/hub
and removed one of the nic cards.

I still see 2 network connections:

A) Internet gateway
internet connection
enabled (connects @ 3.2 mbps)
B) Lan or High speed internet
local area connection
enabled (connects @ 100 mbps)

My limited knowledge of this leads me to think that I dont
need the ICS any more. Is it true should it be removed?

I have run the network setup wizard many times and it is
still there. I have also tried to disable the connection
and then I have no internet access.

What should I do?

In Network Connections, disable any NICs you are not
using.
When you run the network setup wizard be sure to uncheck
all but the adapter, NIC, you intend to use.
You will probably have to set the ICS the way you wish
for the new setup.

The Internet Gateway is being created by your router/hub, not by ICS.
It lets you monitor and control the router's operation. When you
disable the Internet Gateway, you're telling the router to disconnect
itself from the Internet.

If you really don't want the Internet Gateway, refer to the router's
documentation for how to disable it.

Most new routers will make the connection, look for a UPnP logo on the box.
Some also provide an option to disable UPnP, so your other router might have
it disabled.

Some Linksys routers report the uplink speed as 3.2 although your DSL almost
certainly isn't that fast.

thanks for your help.

Do all routers make this network connection?

I have pretty much the same setup at my home and with a
different router manufacture and I dont see the 'internet
gateway' connection I only see the 'Lan or High speed
internet'

What about the slow connect speed on the ICS?

Thanks

Fred
