how do I remove a data file

When I send a document prepared using mail merge as an attachment to an
email, the recipient gets the SQL message when he tries to open my document.
How do I dettach the data file so this doesn't happen?

The recipient should *not* be getting this if you are sending the merged
document, only if you are sending the mail merge main document. Are you sure
you are completing the merge before sending the document?
