How do I reformat my hard disk

I would appreciate some simple instructions on how to reformat my hard disk -
I've looked everywhere and have not been able to find this. I am running
Windows Home XP.

Hi Chris,

Any hard drive volume except the one housing the system files can be
formatted by right-clicking the drive in Windows Explorer and choosing
"format". Do not format any volume identified as boot or system, unless you
are prepared to reinstall and/or do recovery work.

To format the volume containing the Windows installation, you need to boot
from the WinXP CD and start a new installation. Do not enter the Recovery
Console, but rather start the installer and hit F8 to agree to the license.
At the point where you are asked where to install, delete the existing
system partition. Then create a new one from the free space, you will be
prompted to format before proceeding with the installation.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

You certainly didn't look very hard (or at all).

Try typing "format hard drive" in help and support. That's what it is there
for.
