How do I reduce the size of an avi file for email

I have a large (89Meg) avi file I want to email to our out of town kids is
there a way to compress the size of this file with out effecting the quality?
 
Hi,
I would open windows movie maker and import the avi into movie maker. Then
when you save the movie you have the option to save for use with e-mail, here
you can specify a smaller file size say 3-5 meg and movie maker will compress
the large avi file to the size specified which is then suitable for e-mailing.

It would be better to upload the avi file to some webspace somewhere and
then email a link to the file, that they can download whever they wish,
rather than clog up everyone's email servers.
 
It is unlikely that any mail server would accept an attachment of this
size. There is also little chance that you can reduce the file size
significantly.

I would use some public file sharing service to upload the file, then
give the recipients the link to the file.
