How do I read pdf attachments on emails?

I've installed adobe reader 8 several times and when I try to open pdf
attachments to emails I get crap messages about there being no windows
instaler or something about "previews" which seems useless. I'm loosing
patience with vista and all the dumb security. Can anyone please help me?

Do you try to open the attachments in the preview pane?
Try doing it from an OPENED mail instead
If that fails, first save the attachment to disk and open it from there

Adobe Reader (8) does not support Vista.

Thanks Pat I suspected as much. Today vista didn't recognize a wps attachment
and suggested a web search. It also gave a possibility of checking installed
files. I clicked on that and presto.

Hi alligator,
My son managed to get it working- in that I can go to arXiv and read pdf
postings, but it still won't open this e-mail attachment. Maybe that file is
screwed up. I'll try copying it to disc, thanks. I don't know what the
preview pane is. To the left I have a list of received emails. In the middle
I have the clicked email displayed and in the titles there are the
attachments. When I click there it won't open. Windows xp had a worse
problem. No attachments on any forwarded mail would open. The perfectly
obvious solution was to forward the forword and in the forward to be sent one
could open the attachments!!! Don't ask me how long it took to discover the
undo button.
