How do I read messages that are in MIME format?

Azza

I keep receiving messages in Outlook that come through as scrambled text and
the only legible part says: "This is a multi-part message in MIME format."
Other people can view these messages fine as they are sent to my collegues
but my computer doesn't seem to accept them. Please help?!

what version of Outlook? What type of email account do you use? Is that text
visible in the message body?

Hi Diane

I am using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, Windows Vista Basic, I am with
optus, I don't know what you mean by the type of account? My outgoing mail
server is a "pop". Yes that text is visible in the email along with a little
more legible things such as the senders email address but the rest of te
email is made up of letter as numbers. Cheers!

There seems to be a problem with that combination (i.e., Outlook 2003/Vista)
whereby when you receive an HTML message by way of Bcc (the To field will
show "undisclosed-recipients"), the HTML will not be rendered, but will show
as the raw message data. Microsoft is looking into it.

Hi Brian

That is exactly how the messages are coming through. Do you have any idea
how long before Microsoft can fix this problem?

Without knowing what the problem is, we can't say. Since many fixes are
released via Microsoft update, the best bet is to make sure you have all the
latest updates.

If this is about the vista/mime/outlook2003 bug - a fix was released a while
back. See http://www.slipstick.com/emo/2008/up080522.htm#3 for a link to it.

if it was something else and you have all the latest updates, you'll need to
let us know what the problem was.
