How do I re-install WMP 11 in Vista?

B

Bobby

I'm having problems with Windows Media Player (in Vista).

After a while, the player does not open when I click on media files (such as
WMV and MPG files). Nothing happens. This has been happening for a couple of
weeks. If I reboot the functionality returns (for a while) - usually (not
always).

I would like to re-install WMP but don't know how.

Can anyone advise me?

Cheers.

Do audio files work? Do they always work?
What's the commonality that leads to failure/lock-up?

A gradual failure over time could mean resource starvation, which may or may
not show up in Task Manager.
If it's "simply" video related (doesn't happen playing audio files over
time), the video card driver would be fairly highly suspect.

Do you have the latest supported drivers for your audio and video devices?
What are those?

There's no ability to reinstall WMP-Vista short of a reinstall of Vista.
This is true of pretty much every Vista component. =\
