Hi to all the friendly people out there who might be willing to take some
time to help me with an annoying little problem.

Whenever I try to access the display properties of my desktop PC, it says
that the system administrator has disabled it, while I don't remember doing
any such thing....
As i don't know how to reenable it, changing my display properties is
impossible.

I'm running Windows XP home edition SP1

If anyone can tell me how to solve this, I'd be very grateful.
thanks in advance.

hi alje,

not sure how this happened accidently, but here's something you can try.
bring up group policy by typing gpedit.msc in run/open on the start menu.
navigate to user configuration/administrative templates/control
panel/display. in the right hand pane you will see a setting called remove
display in control panel. change the state to not configured and see if you
can now access the display properties.

Richard,
Thank you so much. It worked. I do not know how it happened in the first
place but it seems so many others have had the same problem- something must
have caused it. i am so pleased to be able to access display again
