How do I put symbols (like arrow) on image?

I have inserted colored arrows on my images in powerpoint before but I can't
remember how. I found the felt tip and ink pen pointer option in slide show.
That's not what I want. I want to fade in arrows to point certain things out
on pictures during slide show. Help?

You will need to use autoshape which is at the bottom toolbar. Click
AutoShapes > Lines > Arrow.
Alternately, click Insert > Picture > Autoshapes. Select Lines > Arrow.
Draw the arrow on the slide.

Now, to fade in the arrow, click on the arrow, then select Slide Show >
Custom Animation.
Click Add Effect > Entrance > Fade.
See if that is what you want.
