how do i put accents or a tilde for words in spanish

i am trying to write a letter in spanish and i need to find out how to put
accents on words or a tilde over the n or use other spanish language symbols.

To type ñ you press Ctrl+Shift +~ and then type the n. There are similar
shortcuts for accented characters and the ¿ character. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/InsertSpecChars.htm, in the part headed
"International characters", for the whole list.
