How do I protect cells or a range of cells in excel spreadsheet?

I need users to enter some data into an excel spreadsheet I have created. But
I want to protect some cells so that the formulas and other information
within these cells cannot be changed or overtyped by the users. How do I
protect cells and / or a range of cells?

Hi Abundance

Try This

Select all cells

Format > Cells , select "Protection" Tab and Tick the "Locked" Check box
Then select the the cells you wish to stay editable.
Format > Cells , select "Protection" Tab and "UNTICK" the "Locked" Check box
Then select...
Tool > Protection > Protect Worksheet.

apply the above to each worksheet.

The locked cells only become locked after the protection is applied.
