How do I prevent Frontpage from crashing?

I have been using Frontpage for a few years now without problems. Recently
I'm running into a snag when I upload my site. Everything works well provided
I don't access one of the dropdown menus or certain options. If I go to open
a new page or a previously created one or to insert a picture (plus a few
other selections) then the program locks up. I just recently installed
service pack 3 to try and fix that problem, but it still is a factor. I even
tried re-installing Frontpage several times...help!!

Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner.
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the functions that clear:
The FrontPage Temporary files.
The Cache (*.web) files.

and the one that Restores the Default Toolbars and Menus.

See if it helps.

Thanks a lot Steve! The combination of the FP cleaner and alteration of the
registry solved my problem! I really appreciate it. There's no way I could
have figured it out on my own...

Thanks Tom! That's exactly what was preventing my Frontpage from working
properly. It's running as smoothly as ever now :D

nice write up on crashes but beware of FP cleaner if you use the photo
gallery as I do. It wiped out all of the gallerry formatting and it all had
to be done over. 100 pages later i still don`t know what other problems it
created. My second issue of my web site is not going well. see it at
www.visuals2graphics.com

I have 12 FrontPage photogalleries on my sites (all private) and use
FP Cleaner daily. I have never had a problem.
Since FP Cleaner does not touch any files that contain formatting
information (it does not touch any files contained within a web site)
it is most unlikely that FP Cleaner is the cause of any of your
problems.
The temp files that FP Cleaner deletes are those that FP itself should
delete if it were behaving correctly. Deleting cache files is again
harmless, unless you have FP open at the same time.
Deleting the cmdui file does not affect any web site in any way -
unless FP is open when you do it.
Other functions in FP cleaner are mimics of FrontPage menu items - and
again do not touch any web files.
