How do I prevent file search from re-running on every change to the file system?

When I do a search for files, I frequently want to keep those *STATIC*
results around for HOURS. However, XP conveniently (not for me!) runs
the search again every time there is a change to the file system (it
seems).

Is there a way to turn off this "feature"? If so, how?

PS I did find out how to turn off the XP .zip file integration and
how to get searches to process ALL files instead of just those it
thinks you want to search. Let me know if you have any interest in
these tips.

franklin,

another little tip, to turn off the auto-regeneration of the endless amount
of 'my' folders after being deleted:

regsvr32 /u mydocs.dll
