How do I permanently delete E-mail addresses from drop-down box?

I did what it said to delete e-mail addresses from the drop-down box in the
"To" column that Outlook stores. Seemed to work until the next time I logged
on, opened Outlook, went to type in an address, and there were the supposed
deleted ones still there! I want to know how to delete them PERMENANTLY.
They are not ones I have in "My Contacts", as I no longer correspond with
these people, but Outlook is still remembering their addresses. I want them
gone. Please advise me how to get rid of them for good. Thank you!
