how do I open pst file from external (flash) drive

L

lisamspe

I backed up my 2003 Outlook inbox to an external flash drive. When I inserted
the drive to see if I could retrieve the emails by clicking on File; then
"open with" it tells me that Windows needs to know what file created it. When
I click on the "automatically find it on the web" option it tells me about
the file but doe not tell me how to open it rather it wants me to click an
Outlook option that takes me to a screen to purchase software.

I would think if I copied it from Outlook 2003 & was trying to read the
external drive back into Outllok 2003 I would need no additional software.

Could someone please help me

You can't open it in Windows by double-clicking on it. Start Outlook, then
use File>Open>Outlook Data File if you want to open a PST.
