how do I open a .wdb file

I was sent a document (I think it is a microsoft "works"
database). The extention is .wdb. I have MS works on my
home laptop but I have never used it and don't know how to
use it. I would prefer to use excel. When I try to "save
as" I don't recognize any of the options. If I try to open
it at work (I don't have MS works) It won't open at all.
I have XP at my office. Is there anything you can tell me
that will help me open this doc?

This is apparently a Works database file. You will need to open it in
the Works database program. From there, perhaps there is an option to
convert it to a different format, perhaps Save As Excel. Since I've
never used Works, I can't answer that, but if you have Works on your
computer start the program and look in its Help file.
